Courses Overview |
The Volunteer Management Certificate Program (VMCP) consists of four courses that cover the dynamics of creating a successful volunteer management program. Each course is delivered in the online Blackboard learning environment and is described below.
Participants who successfully complete the full program of all four courses will receive a certificate of completion from Washington State University’s Center for Distance and Profession Education.
Professionals who want to enhance their knowledge of volunteer management but do not want to complete the certificate program may enroll in single courses.

Courses |
- You have the flexibility to take the four VMCP courses in any order.
- You can register for courses individually, or for the full certificate program and receive a discount. For those unfamiliar with online learning spaces or Blackboard, a course preview is available for review in Blackboard.

| Course One covers needs assessment, strategic planning, position descriptions, advertising and promotions, screening and volunteer recruiting teams. |

| Course TwoTraining |
$195 |
| Course Two focuses on needs assessments, learning objectives, training plans, how to evaluate training and learning, and finishes with the popular "Sneaky Trainer Tips." |

| Course ThreeSupervision & Management |
$195 |
| Topics covered in Course Three include personal styles of leadership, volunteer relationships, motivating volunteers, supervision, delegation, communication, conflicts, and documenting volunteer participation. |

| Course FourEvaluation & Recognition |
$195 |
| Course Four, the final course, covers the evaluation of volunteer programs and events, evaluation of volunteer performance, and formal and informal recognition. |

| Full Course Set with Certificate |

| All four courses can be taken in any order and completed comfortably within a two-year time frame to earn the certificate. |

Course Logistics |
| Completion & Extension |
Students have six months to complete each course; six months is calculated from the time students receive a password for each course. Students who do not complete a course within six months may request a one-time, two-month extension and will be charged a $25 extension fee.

| Continuing Education Units (CEUs) |
| Each VMCP course qualifies for 3.0 CEUs. The units are recorded on a permanent CEU transcript at Washington State University. There is a $5 per course fee for CEUs. |
