Supporting Military Kids – A Day of Awareness

On November 16, 2007, we are hosting an event that will reach out to not only our military families but to educators, community leaders and anyone who wants to learn more in understanding and supporting military kids. "Supporting Military Kids-A Day of Awareness" will feature workshops on transition issues, exhibits, and dynamic speakers dealing with such topics as "Understanding the effects of PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury" and "Helping Children Cope with A family Member's deployment". Sponsorship requests are due November 1, 2007.

We are a coalition of organizations that have come together with our various skills and resources in support of military kids and their families in Washington State. The organizations include: a variety of state and local organizations including the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, US Department of Education Region X, Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, US Department of Defense Regional Liaisons Office, Madigan Army Medical Center, Washington National Guard, US Army Reserve, Navy Region NW, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Washington State University, Valley Cities, King County Department of Community and Human Services/Veterans Citizen Levy Oversight Board, and many others.

Who should attend?
Anyone interested in understanding and supporting military kids.
